Attack on Titan Anime Review(Episode 1-10)

Man, I got to tell you I haven't watched an anime that made my heart race since Claymore anime. This anime is for people that enjoy fast paced, no dragging and beat around the bush type of battles.

Anyways, I am going to break down the different things I have noticed about the anime so far. This series is set to end somewhere in October.

First Impression

Well, the first impression of the anime is quite intriguing for me. I felt that the anime had a Godzilla feel to it. What I thought about the anime before I even watched it was that the characters are probably going to be over-powered, kind of like Bleach and Naruto. Boy was I wrong.

It turns out that the Titans in the anime are extremely strong and overpowered. The humans are the prey and the Titans are the predator.

Storyline

The story revolves around a guy named Eren Yeager. Together with other humans, they live in a town that is covered by a 100 meter wall to prevent the Titans from entering the city. Basically, they have been living in the surrounded city by walls for almost 100 years. There are primarily 3 walls.

So apparently, the Titans decided to break the first wall on the 100th year. It is just not a regular Titan, it is an extremely huge one. SURPRISE! With that happening, the people are caught off guard, with the soldiers guarding the parameters of the wall completely not prepared for this.

As a result, plenty of humans(10,000 total) are eaten by the Titans, including the soldiers. Unfortunately for Eren his mother is part the casualties as well.

Attack on Titan Characters

There are some interesting characters in the story.

Eren Yeager

Eren Yeager is quite a serious guy and vows to annihilate all Titans due to the death of his mother. Eren is not the most skillful fighter, but he does possess strong will and also fearless against Titans. Sometime during the show we see his dad inject something on him during one of the flash backs. I am not sure what that is for, but it is going to affect him...

Grisha Yeager

He is Eren's dad. He is a professional doctor of the city. He is an extremely skilled doctor, but what he does is still unknown at this point.

Mikasa Ackerman

Her parents were massacred when she was really young. The Yeager family adopted her when she has nowhere to go. She is an extremely skilled fighter and she really cares for Eren because he is her only close family member.

Armin Arlelt

He is the weakness among the bunch of characters in terms of fighting capability. Fighting wise, he is not the best, but he does possess excellent tactical and strategic knowledge. In essence, he is a wise adviser when it comes to dire situations.

Hannes

Hannes saved Eren and Mikasa in the first episode from the Titan's invasion at the expense of their mother. Hannes is actually very timid and actually froze upon meeting the very first Titan he saw. While we cannot deny he saved both of our main characters, he definitely wasn't the best candidate to be a Titan fighter.

More characters are appearing in episodes 4-10, but I am just going to cover the main ones.

Opening Soundtrack

The opening soundtrack of the anime is extremely epic and it fits well with the whole theme of the anime. Big Titans and puny little humans fighting is something quite fun to watch. There are also a lot of people that made parodies to the song.

The song is sung by Linked Horizon - "Guren no Yumiya". I am guessing the song was made specifically for the anime because it definitely drawn me in after I listen to it. Anyways, I am going to put the funny and well put together parody below:
